Planate Management Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering and construction management support for the Chiller Plant System and Chilled/Condenser Water Systems at the Miami VA Medical Center.

The position requires ensuring compliance with design intent, construction standards, and project objectives across all project phases. The role is contingent upon contract award with a one-year base plus three option years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
