Job summary

APi Inc. is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee insulation and sheet metal contracts, manage progress, materials, equipment, staffing, and safety on site in Minnesota. You will prepare reports, manage schedules, and coordinate with clients to ensure on-time completion within budgets.

The role requires 1–3 years of supervisory experience and a degree or equivalent construction experience. Candidates must be able to work full-time on site with strong communication and cost-control skills.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of verifiable on-the-job construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor job progress through field verification of installed materials, labor hours, and overall completion status.
  • Lead, support, and develop direct reports with supervision, coaching and performance feedback.
  • Facilitate on-site meetings and maintain primary day-to-day communication with the customer for project coordination.
  • Manage project cost control by monitoring budget vs. actual costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Oversee project administration with progress reports, time sheets, and project correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including drawings, schedules, inventory records, and reports.
  • Coordinate materials and workflow by taking-offs and ordering materials to ensure availability.

Job Summary:

The Construction Manager manages insulation and sheet metal contracts by overseeing project progress, materials, equipment, and staffing. This role maintains weekly job progress reports and coordinates the timely delivery of required materials, consumables, tools, and equipment while managing site inventory.

The Construction Manager represents the company in contract-related matters and maintains a strong safety profile throughout all project activities. This role is responsible for timekeeping, preparing and managing reports, coordinating work releases and schedules, and maintaining equipment and tool inventories.

The Construction Manager serves as the primary client contact, obtains required approvals, and ensures projects are completed on schedule, in accordance with contractual requirements, and within approved budgets. This role provides day-to-day supervision of staff and ensures project milestones and departmental goals are achieved.

  • Lead, support, and develop assigned direct reports, providing supervision, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development to build capability and support success in the role.
  • Facilitate on-site meetings and maintain primary day-to-day communication with the customer to support project coordination and issue resolution
  • Manage project cost control by monitoring budget to actual costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work; identify variances, support change order development and pricing, assist with negotiations as needed, and communicate margin impacts and cost-to-complete projections.
  • Oversee project administration by preparing progress reports, submitting daily time sheets, documenting additional work, and writing project correspondence as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including current drawings, specifications, schedules, inventory records, and other required reports.
  • Lead coordination of materials and workflow by performing material takeoffs, and ordering materials, identify upcoming work, and ensure required materials, equipment, and tools are available.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, customers, and project team to communicate progress, attend meetings, and support overall project execution.
  • Direct workforce readiness through new hire orientation, training, construction safety, and QA/QC requirements.

Qualifications:

Travel Requirements:

APi is a national scope contractor working extensively across the Lower 48 and occasionally in Canada. Construction Management requires a full-time presence at the jobsite as determined by the company. Construction Management is typically required at most projects 6 to 24 months in duration.

  • The role requires roughly 50% sitting and computer use and 50% standing, walking, or moving throughout the job site.
  • Ability to work comfortably at elevated heights.
  • Must be comfortable working in an active construction job site environment.
  • Must be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment
  • PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Glasses / Goggles
  • High Visibility Vest
  • Hearing Protection (designated areas)
  • Gloves
