Job summary

APi Inc in New Brighton, MN is seeking an Estimator/Project Estimator to determine project timelines, labor, materials, budgets, and risks. You will collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop comprehensive estimates and present them to leadership for upcoming projects.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, and strong knowledge of estimating procedures. Travel to project sites and other APi locations may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of project estimating procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to analyze requirements and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineers and project managers to analyze requirement documents and project plans.
• Prepare material, labor, and cost estimates for the project.
• Execute turnover meetings with Project Managers.
• Maintain project records consistent with company standards.
• Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders.
• Compile and record actual costs.
• Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis using MIKE Estimation Software.
• Manage bids from vendors and contractors.
• Participate in weekly sales meetings.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, customers, and contractors.

Salary: 70,000.00 - 90,000.00 USD / YEAR

AnEstimator, or Project Estimator,is responsible fordeciding the projectedtime frameneeded to complete a project andadditionalfactors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Their duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compilereportsand making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations
• Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays
• Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems
• Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings
• Manage single or multiple projects simultaneously

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or construction related field
• Extensive knowledge of project estimating procedures

Travel Requirements

• Travel to project sites, or other APi Inc company locations as needed

• Primarily a stationary position for a considerable portion of the day (sitting and/or standing). The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
• The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment
• PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
• Hard Hat
• Safety Glasses / Goggles
• High Visibility Vest
• Hearing Protection (designated areas)
• Gloves

Responsibilities

Responsible for assigned proposal from start to finish to include:

• Partnering with engineers and project managers to analyze requirement documents and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
• Preparing material, labor, and cost estimates for the project
• Executing turnover meetings with Project Managers
• Maintaining project records which are consistent with company standards including colored prints, proposal details, and takeoff records
• Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
• Compiling and recording actual costs
• Using bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis utilizing MIKE Estimation Software
• Managing bids from vendors and contractors

Will also be responsible for:

• Participating in weekly sales meeting
• Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors, customers, and contractors
