Job summary

Southern West Virginia Paving, Inc., a CRH company, invites applications for a Construction Management intern. You will gain hands-on experience across project management, asphalt plant operations, and field crews, while learning how bids, contracts, and job setup work in a vertically integrated organization.

The internship emphasizes safety, teamwork, and the basics of P&L, with opportunities to travel, work nights and weekends, and collaborate with estimators, foremen, and plant operators.

Qualifications

• Education: Working toward a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management or Operations Management; or 2–4 years related experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, write routine reports, and communicate with customers or employees.
• Strong math, measurement, and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to solve practical problems and follow written or scheduled instructions.

Responsibilities

• Project management for public and private jobs.
• Learn how to find, bid, and build heavy construction projects.
• Work with current bidding software and set up contracts/subcontracts.
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and foremen.
• Assist asphalt plant operators and maintenance tasks.
• Work with construction crews and prep crews.
• Understand job cost, workload, and basics of P&L.
