Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience in construction inspection, building inspection, or as an engineering technician or in a related area.
• Education/training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis, with the total qualifying requirement being one year.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction work from start to completion to determine if it meets contract requirements, plans, and specifications.
• Maintains logs on projects.
• Prepares and submits progress reports.
• Ensures all work complies with safety policies and procedures.
• Responds to 311 service complaints.
• Handles complaints or conflicts between contractors.
• Informs contractors when discrepancies between contracts, plans, and specifications are identified.
• May issue permits related to DPW activity when assigned.
• Coordinates with other departments when projects impact them.
• May maintain as-built drawings for assigned projects.
• May interpret and explain contracts, plans, and specifications to contractors when required.
• Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.
