Job summary

City of Pittsburg is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to lead field and office engineering activities for public works projects. You will supervise staff, inspect construction, ensure compliance with plans and specs, and coordinate with contractors and utilities.

The ideal candidate has extensive inspection knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade with specialized training in public works inspection or related field.
• Four years of increasingly responsible construction inspection experience at a level comparable to Construction Inspector II with the City of Pittsburg.
• Valid California driver’s license and APWA Public Infrastructure Inspector Certification recommended within one year.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train, and review staff performing field and office engineering work for public works projects.
• Inspect construction activities and enforce plans, specs, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with utilities, contractors, and the public to resolve issues.
• Prepare technical reports, change orders, and maintain project records.
