Job Description

AGS has an IMMEDIATE opening for a Construction Inspector with 4+ years of experience for projects specifically in the Department of Public Works.

Construction Inspector Responsibilities:

Provides full-time support to the RE. The Construction Inspector performs Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and inspecting construction work for compliance; monitors excavation; loading and off-haul of hazardous materials; verifies and/or conducts necessary testing for construction purposes; reviews plans, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance during construction and field services; reports safety and environmental hazards or field conditions that could alter original designs; reviews project schedules and implements inspection plans; coordinates construction phases; leads and participates in field meetings; resolves problems and responds to complaints; prepares project documentation including progress reports, daily construction reports, and meeting minutes; analyzes and implements approved change order requests; maintains records; verifies field measurements; verifies and prepares quantity and progress estimates. Performs all other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four (4) years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and quality of workmanship and materials.
  • Up to two (2) years of this experience may be substituted with supervision experience at the Superintendent/General Foreman level, overseeing construction crews of more than six (6) staff.
  • Current HAZWOPER Certification.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of construction management principles, practices, and methods.
  • Understanding of construction, maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Research techniques and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
  • Knowledge of construction materials and safety regulations.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret contract plans and specifications.
  • Mathematical skills for computations related to inspection.
  • Report writing and communication skills.
  • Effective collaboration with team members, engineers, contractors, and the public.
  • Supervisory skills for overseeing subordinates.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Working Conditions:

Ability to work at least 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with a commitment of at least 6 months. Flexibility for early mornings, late nights, weekends, and working in challenging weather and physical environments.
