Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Perform daily inspections of construction projects to monitor quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may involve multiple disciplines or focus within a specific area such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, etc. The role includes visual/physical inspections and field testing to verify compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare inspection reports and document observations and testing results. Communicate findings to engineers or project managers and collaborate on solutions to potential issues. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and specified procedures to ensure work complies with contract specifications.
  2. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  3. Document findings and results clearly.
  4. Prepare inspection reports and note nonconformance issues.
  5. Analyze data to verify accuracy before reporting to the Project Manager.
  6. Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
  7. Interact with clients and site personnel to resolve findings.
  8. Assist the Project Manager in developing scope of testing and inspection services.
  9. Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with relevant managers.
  10. Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
  11. Assist senior inspectors on large or complex projects.
  12. Follow safety rules, perform pre-task planning, and report safety concerns.
  13. Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
  • 2-4 years' experience in construction inspection.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Required Certifications:
  • Completion of internal safety certifications.
  • At least three certifications from the following list:
    • NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils)
    • NICET Level II in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist)
    • ICC certifications (various specialties)
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
    • ASNT Level II in NDT methods
    • Other relevant certifications deemed appropriate by the department manager.
  • ACI certifications in specific testing areas if applicable.
  • Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation certifications, if applicable.

The salary range for this position is $32.00 to $44.50 per hour, adjusted based on location, qualifications, and experience.
