Garney Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to advance field safety programs on our projects in the United States. You will lead inspections, hazard analyses, and safe work planning while delivering toolbox talks and training to crews.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in construction safety, OSHA knowledge, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities. This role emphasizes proactive incident prevention and compliance with company safety policies across sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
• 2+ years in construction and 1+ year in a safety role (3+ years preferred).
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety practices.
• OSHA 30, 500, EM385, CHST or equivalent; CPR/First Aid Trainer; OSHA 510 within 6 months - Required.
• OSHA 500, CHST, or other relevant safety certifications - Preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish - Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform jobsite safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Track and follow up on corrective actions to support incident prevention.
• Assist in developing safe work plans, task hazard analyses, and site‑specific procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety programs.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training to field teams.
• Serve as a safety resource for employees and project leadership.
• Promote a strong safety culture through engagement and accountability.
• Maintain safety documentation, reporting, and records.
