Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment. You will operate largely independently from a company-provided field service truck, servicing customers across Middle Tennessee and nearby areas.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of equipment diagnostics experience and a strong engine knowledge base, with a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Field Service Technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships or manufacturer training preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• Five (5) or more years’ experience with equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting on construction equipment; candidates with limited equipment experience may be considered if engine experience is strong.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair and service of Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment.
• Work largely independently in a field service truck at customer locations and service shops.
• Travel within assigned region; may require overtime, weekends and holidays; overnight travel up to 25%.
