Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Thompson's Station, TN is seeking a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician to set up, repair, service, diagnose, and install replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment. This skilled technician role works largely independently with guidance from mentors in our service shops and reports to a Service Shop Manager.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hands-on diesel equipment experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine and equipment training from technical schools or relevant military experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on equipment experience with diesel-powered construction equipment or truck engines.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for some positions.
• Able to work five-day weeks with overtime, including occasional weekends.
• Professionalism, integrity, adaptability and strong customer service focus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical manuals, service manuals, policies and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electric/electronic schematics and test equipment.
• Provide high-quality repair service, respond to customer needs safely and promptly.
