Job summary

Empire is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger, month-end close, and cost tracking for our residential homebuilding operations in Austin, TX. You will reconcile accounts, review project costs, and assist with forecasting and profitability reporting.

The role requires 1–3 years of accounting experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel. On-site collaboration with construction and operations teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience; homebuilding/real estate preferred.
• Understanding of job costing and construction accounting.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and GAAP‑based reporting.
• Monitor homebuilding and land development job costs and cost allocations.
• Forecasting, financial analysis, and profitability reporting.
• Support compliance, audits, tax, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Construction, Purchasing, Land Development, and Operations teams.
