Overview
The accountant will be responsible for managing core accounting functions including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, construction draws, and month end closing. This position requires a hands-on, organized professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and multifamily real estate operations.
Responsibilities
- Month-end close procedures (journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, etc.)
- Support annual financial statement audit requests
- Journal entry and reconciliation review
- Intercompany bookings and reconciliation
- Manage subcontractor and vendor billing, pay apps, and insurance compliance
- Handle job cost allocations, project reconciliations, and month-end close
- Maintain accurate records within QuickBooks Online
- Collaborate closely with operations and project management teams to ensure financial accuracy
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and payments
- Including cutting checks, updating check register and saving scanned copies
- Coordination and process construction draw requests, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate, as well as preparation of Actual vs. Budget reports
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accounting information is consistent and up to date
Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 1?3 years of accounting experience, preferably in multifamily real estate or related industries
- Proficiency in accounting software, construction software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of AP, payroll, reconciliations, and construction draw processes
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset toward process improvement
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
