Job summary

Buildlabs Texas is hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper for our Austin operation. This hands-on role oversees the complete accounting cycle for a construction-focused business, including AP, AR, payroll, and project cost tracking.

You will collaborate with project managers, estimators, and vendors to ensure accurate job costing and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate has five+ years of construction accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and proficiency with QuickBooks and Procore.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Full-cycle bookkeeping experience for a construction company or project-based organization.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and project-based financial management.
• Hands-on experience with AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing.
• Experience with job cost accounting, change orders, retainage, and progress billing.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks; familiarity with Procore or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records for a construction company.
• Manage Accounts Payable: review, coding, approvals, and processing of invoices.
• Manage Accounts Receivable: client invoicing, progress billing, collections, and reconciliations.
• Process payroll and maintain payroll records.
• Maintain general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Reconcile bank accounts and vendor statements; monitor project costs by code.
• Coordinate with project managers and field personnel to ensure accurate project costs.
• Prepare project billing records including retainage and change orders.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing and reporting.
• Liaise with outside accountants and auditors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and internal controls.
