IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Suffolk, Virginia. The role supports overall project management, coordination with regional leaders, and on-site supervision to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

You will assist with planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and documentation while liaising with clients, architects/engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure progress aligns with corporate standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering/construction management.
• 2–5 years of recent experience in construction processes, design coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and project administration.
• Proficient in Outlook, MS Word, Excel and construction management software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with professionalism and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager with planning, organizing and staffing key field positions with regional heads and managers.
• Support development and implementation of project objectives, policies and performance standards.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, A/E, vendors and subcontractors to facilitate progress.
• Monitor construction progress with on-site Superintendent to ensure schedule and budget adherence.
• Identify potential issues and help implement corrective action plans.
• Represent the company in project meetings and support labor planning and coordination efforts.
• Assist in financial aspects: tracking costs, reviewing invoices, monitoring equipment rentals, forecasting.
• Maintain project documentation: submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, progress reports.
• Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractors aligned to schedules.
• Promote and support company safety policies on all projects.
• Perform additional responsibilities as directed by management.
