Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical in Suffolk, VA is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager to support multi-project delivery. The role focuses on coordinating planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client alignment to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

You will assist the Project Manager with field staffing, communications with clients, A/E partners, and subcontractors, and help manage documentation, procurement, and project reporting. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 5 years recent experience in construction processes, design coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and project administration.
• Proficient computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and construction management software.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, and staffing key field positions in coordination with regional leaders.
• Support the establishment and implementation of project objectives, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, architects/engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor construction progress with the on-site Superintendent to meet schedule and budget.
• Identify potential issues and help develop corrective action plans.
• Represent the company in project meetings and support labor planning.
• Support cost tracking, invoices, equipment rentals, and forecast activities.
• Maintain project documentation: submittals, RFIs, change orders, minutes, and reports.
• Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractors.
• Promote and enforce safety policies on all projects.
• Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management.
