Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical in Suffolk, VA is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager.

You will assist the Project Manager with coordination across multiple construction projects, helping to deliver them safely, on schedule, and within budget while aligning with company standards and client expectations. You’ll support planning, staffing, and objective setting, maintain client and vendor communications, monitor progress with on-site teams, and help with cost tracking,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in construction processes and project administration.
• Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel and CM software.
• Able to plan, organize, and staff field positions with coordination.
• Strong communication and collaboration across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with overall project management and coordination to meet safety, schedule and budget goals.
• Support planning, staffing, and objective setting in coordination with site leaders.
• Maintain regular client, architect/engineer, vendor, and subcontractor communication.
• Monitor progress with on-site superintendent to ensure on-time delivery and budget adherence.
• Help identify issues and develop corrective action plans.
• Represent the company in project meetings and support labor planning.
• Assist with project forecasting, cost tracking, and procurement activities.
• Maintain project documentation including submittals, RFIs, changes, minutes, and reports.
• Promote safety policies and adhere to company standards.
• Perform additional responsibilities as directed by project management.
