Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc is seeking a Construction Administrator to serve as the hub between owners, designers, and contractors, ensuring plans and specs are followed from NTP through startup and final inspection. You will manage contracts and submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay apps, and coordinate decisions with owners’ representatives, while maintaining documentation and field compliance.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 3–5

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline and three years of experience OR five years of experience in construction and applicable design.
• Experience managing projects in the A/E industry.

Responsibilities

• Administer contracts and documentation through the full construction phase, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay apps, final inspection, and startup.
• Serve as primary day-to-day contact between contractor and design team; coordinate prompt decisions with owners' representatives.
• Assist in evaluating contractor proposals, bids, estimates, schedules, and change orders; advise on needed decisions.
• Maintain knowledge of owner-architect agreements and other service agreements; ensure field compliance.
• Review plans and specs to coordinate design intent with construction means/methods; flag discrepancies.
• Perform regular site visits; discuss activities with superintendents and trade partners.
• Coordinate startup and commissioning touchpoints; communicate issues and track to closure.
• Attend owner/contractor meetings; capture action items and follow through on deliverables.
• Meet with state, city, and county officials for construction review and code adherence.
• Help resolve conflicts with suppliers/contractors; escalate unusual conditions to design team and owners reps.
• Review pay applications for accuracy and conformance with progress and contract terms.
• Ensure applicable quality procedures are executed timely; promote lessons learned and continuous improvement.
