Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc (SSR) is seeking a Construction Administrator to serve as the hub between owners, designers, and contractors, ensuring conformance to plans and efficient documentation from NTP through startup. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Construction Management and 3–5 years of experience in the A/E industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with good judgment and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Administer contracts and documentation through the full construction phase, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay apps, final inspection, and startup.
  • Serve as primary day-to-day contact between contractor and design team; coordinate prompt decisions with owners' representatives.
  • Assist in evaluating contractor proposals, bids, estimates, schedules, and change orders; advise the design team and owner on needed decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of owner-architect agreements and additional service agreements; ensure field execution compliance.
  • Review plans and specs to coordinate design intent with construction means, flag discrepancies and drive resolution.
  • Perform site visits to discuss activities with superintendents and trades; document observations.
  • Coordinate startup and commissioning touchpoints with client and contractor; track issues to closure.
  • Attend meetings; capture action items and follow through on deliverables.
  • Meet with officials for construction review and code adherence as necessary.
  • Resolve conflicts with suppliers and contractors; route unusual conditions to design team and owners' reps.
  • Review pay apps for accuracy and conformance with progress and contract terms.
  • Promote quality procedures and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
