Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist with construction pay application experience to support subcontractor payments, retainage tracking, and accurate project cost coding in Colorado Springs.

You will collaborate with project and accounting teams, take ownership of key AP processes, and help ensure timely payments while maintaining vendor records and supporting month-end close.

Qualifications

• Requires prior accounts payable experience in construction.
• Experience reviewing subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers.
• Knowledge of retainage, lien waivers, subcontract agreements, and construction billing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with project teams.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software.
• Familiarity with AIA billing forms is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and process subcontractor pay applications against contracts and change orders.
• Track retainage and obtain lien waivers before payments.
• Process vendor invoices with correct approvals and cost coding.
• Coordinate with project managers to resolve discrepancies and secure approvals.
• Prepare payment runs per procedures and contractual terms.
• Reconcile vendor statements and respond to inquiries.
• Maintain vendor records, W-9s, and supporting documents.
• Assist with month-end close, AP reconciliations, and audits.
