Job summary

Southeast Conservation Corps seeks a Crew Leader II to mentor and guide young adults on conservation projects in the Cherokee National Forest. You will mentor, manage field crews, and promote safety while leading multi-day camping-based field operations.

Responsibilities include training crew members, coordinating logistics, maintaining equipment, and documenting progress. Strong leadership, endurance, and communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid USFS chainsaw certification (B faller).
• Experience leading youth or young adults in field projects.
• Ability to work long hours in rugged outdoor settings.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Willing to obtain or already hold Wilderness First Responder certification.

Responsibilities

• Mentor crew members and develop leadership skills.
• Coordinate field tasks, safety, and project execution.
• Deliver skills training and facilitate discussions.
• Promote a safe, cohesive, inclusive crew environment.
• Monitor crew hours, expenses, and maintenance per policy.
• Lead camping logistics and field safety practices.
• Communicate with project partners and staff to ensure outcomes.
• Support administrative duties and reporting as needed.
