Job summary

Conservation Legacy is seeking AmeriCorps crew members based in Chattanooga, TN for the Southeast Conservation Corps season. Crews will perform heavy outdoor labor, camping in primitive sites, and traveling to project sites within the Cherokee National Forest.

This is a 450-hour AmeriCorps term with 10-hour days and safety as the top priority. Position focuses on habitat restoration, stream improvement, and teamwork with two crew leaders and five crew members.

Qualifications

• US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
• Ages 18–30 (up to 35 for veterans)
• High school diploma or equivalent or enrolled to obtain it
• Willing to provide information for a National Service Criminal History Check
• Comfort with outdoor environments
• Ability to learn new skills quickly
• Team player with varied skills
• Willing to spend long days in challenging environments

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy manual labor on conservation/restoration projects in Cherokee National Forest
• Camp outdoors and hike to remote project sites
• Maintain equipment and report maintenance needs
• Collaborate with crew leaders and teammates with strong coordination
• Follow safety protocols and adapt to inclement weather
• Travel with crew to project sites and work 10-hour shifts
