Job summary

Conservation Legacy in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Crew Leader II for the Stream Restoration: Felling & Rigging Crew. The position supports AmeriCorps work with youth and young adults, leading field teams on conservation projects in the Cherokee National Forest.

The crew travels between project sites, camps in the field, and requires strong outdoor skills, safety awareness, and teamwork. Camp life, gear maintenance, and administrative duties are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid USFS chainsaw certification.
• Experience leading youth or young adults in field or program settings.
• Current advanced medical certification (WFR/CPR/AED) or willingness to obtain before start date.
• Ability to manage crew life, camping, and field projects within a 40-50+ hour week.

Responsibilities

• Mentor assistant crew leader and develop leadership skills.
• Train and supervise crew to complete conservation projects in field conditions.
• Maintain safety, coordinate logistics, and report incidents as required.
• Oversee camp management, food budgets, and crew welfare.
