Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP is a national law firm seeking a Conflicts Attorney to identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest in new engagements and lateral hiring, working closely with attorneys and business professionals across the firm.

The ideal candidate will have a JD and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm, with strong research, ethics, and communication skills to provide guidance on conflicts and ethics issues.

Qualifications

• JD degree and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm; active bar license in good standing preferred.
• Minimum three years of electronic research experience; familiarity with Intapp conflicts and client intake software preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Outlook; conflicts-related programs; Aderant experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and ethics/conflicts in a law firm environment.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, legal research, and writing skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to discuss and resolve conflicts diplomatically with attorneys and business professionals.
• Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization abilities to work on multiple projects with shifting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze electronic information to identify potential conflict of interest issues in new engagements and hires.
• Conduct electronic research using Westlaw and other tools to identify and resolve conflict and ethics issues.
• Analyze and resolve conflict of interest issues and communicate findings to firm attorneys.
• Prepare and review engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, ethics disclosures, waivers, ethical screens, and disengagement letters.
• Guide and oversee work of others in the Office of Legal Affairs on conflicts and ethics matters.
• Communicate with firm attorneys, business professionals, General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel to facilitate resolution of conflicts.
• Assist in developing training programs on conflict of interest issues, client intake systems, and procedures.
• Close client or matter accounts per firm policy or as requested.
