The Conflicts Attorney identifies, analyzes, and resolves potential conflicts of interest related to the Firm’s new business intake and lateral hiring for all Firm offices. This position ensures new matters and attorney hires are compliant with the Firm’s conflicts and risk management policies and procedures. The Conflicts Attorney works with a team under minimal supervision and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze conflict reports, identify potential conflicts of interest, and assist Firm attorneys to resolve issues in a timely manner for all new client and new business
- Conduct conflict analysis on new lateral hires, providing concise summaries of potential conflict issues and steps required for resolution for new lateral hires
- Draft clear and concise conflict waivers to resolve identified conflict issues, and ensure waivers are obtained before new client/matters are opened, which address identified conflict issue
- Participate in the Review, and where necessary drafting of, engagement letters
- Review outside counsel guidelines to ensure Firm-wide compliance and identify differences from Firm’s engagement policies, working with Firm’s Attorneys and Firm’s General Counsel to address any differences
- Assist with the preparation of audit letters
- Perform conflict searches as a back up to conflict analysts and as needed
