Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks an IT Configuration Manager to direct configuration management across enterprise IT environments, ensuring CMDB integrity and governance to support incident, problem, and change processes in a federal setting.

The role collaborates with infrastructure, application, and security teams to prevent configuration drift, provide actionable insights, and drive continuous improvement across hybrid on-premises and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in configuration management, CMDB administration, or related ITSM roles.
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles, frameworks, and tools (ServiceNow or BMC Remedy).
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project-management skills with the ability to lead initiatives.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across infrastructure, application, security, and service management teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the CMDB data model, class structures, and relationship mappings for infra and app configuration items.
• Establish and enforce configuration management policies, procedures, and naming conventions per ITIL and enterprise architecture standards.
• Integrate CMDB data with change, incident, and problem workflows for accurate impact analysis and dependency mapping.
• Conduct regular configuration audits, reconciliations, and baseline reviews to drive remediation.
• Collaborate with platform admins to implement CMDB capabilities in ServiceNow, including discovery and data normalization.
• Produce configuration reports and visualizations to support capacity planning, risk assessments, and compliance in regulated environments.
• Coordinate with ITIL processes to keep configuration data accurate across lifecycle stages.
• Lead or contribute to CMDB implementation, remediation, and continuous-improvement in hybrid environments.
