Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an engineer to design configurable power distribution products and translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions. You will generate detailed drawings, BOMs, and wiring diagrams while collaborating with Sales, Product Management, and customers to ensure compliant, high-quality designs.

You will support platform improvements, maintain records, and participate in design reviews, with a focus on safety standards and effective cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably with configurable products.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with electrical systems, wiring and enclosure design.
• UL and NEC compliance knowledge preferred.
• Customer-facing or technical sales support experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure power distribution products to meet customer specs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product Mgmt, and customers on application needs.
• Produce detailed drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs for manufacturing and procurement.
• Provide technical support on product capabilities and system integration.
• Ensure designs comply with UL, NEC, and other safety standards.
• Maintain records of configurations and customer designs in data management systems.
• Support platform improvements and process efficiency.
• Participate in design reviews and address feedback.
• Assist with builds and functional testing to validate designs.
