Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Miami is seeking a Condo Accountant Hotel to support the Accounting and Finance department by managing the accounting for the residential and rental program and maintaining accurate balance sheet reconciliations.

This role prepares owner statements and distributions, reconciles bank and balance sheet accounts, supports the month-end close, and serves as a point of contact for residential owners on accounting matters.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of condo/hotel accounting experience or a 4-year college degree with an Accounting/ Finance concentration and a minimum of 2 years of related progressive experience.
• Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing and in the operation of all hotel-specific systems.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Sedentary work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor and effective communication with all levels of staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly residential owner statements, including rental revenue, revenue splits, fees, and expenses, in accordance with the rental program and management agreements.
• Calculate and process owner distributions accurately and on time, and maintain owner payment records.
• Track and allocate residential revenue, charges, and reimbursable expenses to the appropriate owner accounts.
• Respond to residential owner inquiries regarding statements, distributions, and charges in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate with Residential Services, Front Office, and Revenue on unit occupancy, owner stays, and rental activity affecting owner accounts.
• Prepare and maintain monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and owner accounts, and investigate and resolve reconciling items.
• Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accruals, owner liabilities, intercompany, and clearing accounts.
• Prepare general ledger journal entries, including accruals, allocations, and adjusting entries, with supporting documentation.
• Assist with annual external audits and special projects as required.
