Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is seeking a Computer Specialist to provide system-level and client support for Windows and Mac OS across labs and staff devices in Lincoln, NE. The role covers installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of hardware and software in the College of Arts & Sciences and related facilities.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in computer science or a related field with two years of IT support experience; ability to troubleshoot

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or related field plus two years of IT support, including experience with both Mac and Windows software and hardware technologies; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Work experience required demonstrating computer hardware, software and networking skills.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, internet skills and ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to deal effectively with people.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair computer hardware.
  • Ability to learn administration of multiple college IT systems.
  • Ability to train others in the use of such technology systems.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system-level and client support of all hardware and software systems in the College, including installation, configuration and maintenance for both Windows and MAC OS.
  • Support faculty and staff workstations and laptops, student workstations, IT-rich Labs, and other equipment within the College of Arts & Sciences.
