The University of Virginia is seeking a student help desk technician to support the Facilities Management IT team with desktop and mobile device issues on campus. You will resolve first- and second-tier problems, document request history, and triage more complex tickets to appropriate staff.
As a student employee, expect 12–20 hours weekly, on-site at UVA. A DMV check is required; familiarity with Windows 10/11 and Office 365 helps.
The Department of Facilities Management is seeking a student help desk tech to work with existing team members to support Facilities Management's fleet of PC's and mobile devices. The help desk tech will provide technical support to the Facilities Management community to resolve first and second-tier desktop software, hardware, and communications issues in an efficient and timely manner. Accurately document request history. Triage and route advanced second and third-tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel. Provide timely resolution of problem or escalation on behalf of the user by maintaining strong working relationships with IT professionals in areas such as network services, software systems engineers, and application developers.
An ideal candidate could work 20 hrs/week during the school year but realistically 12-15 hrs is more realistic. We are flexible and realize that you are a student first. We are looking for a student employee who can work during the summer of 2027 .
Position Compensation: $16.00 Hourly
This position will require a DMV check.
This is not a sedentary job and involves extensive use of desktop/laptop computers. The job does require walking some distance to set up mobile devices and computer equipment.
