Job summary

Sinclair Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Machining courses in the Computer Aided Manufacturing program for the upcoming term at the Dayton campus. Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

The position is open to residents of Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or those able to work in one of these states. Responsibilities include teaching curriculum, planning instruction, and providing syllabi while using instructional technology and maintaining student

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Manufacturing or related field.
  • Five years of work experience in the field.
  • Collegiate teaching experience preferred in the CAM area.
  • Precision and CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Transcripts and background check required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Adjunct faculty teach CAM curriculum developed by the department.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections.
  • Use instructional technology and adapt methods for diverse learners.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit final grades on time.

The world of manufacturing can no longer be thought of as a dingy,dark world of dull uninteresting jobs. Manufacturing today drivesall other technologies and is bringing the trade skills of the pastand joining them with the technology of today and the future.Anyone can become a part of this fast-growing field with Sinclair’sComputer Aided Manufacturing programs.

The Computer Aided Manufacturing Department is currently seekingan adjunct faculty member to teach Machining courses for theupcoming term. This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio,Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work withinone of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-timeemployment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefitscompliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by thedepartment
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections inaccordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearningMaintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the Computer AidedManufacturing or related field required, OR must meet the specificrequirements associated with Tested Experience
    • Tested Experience Requirements:
      • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent requiredAND
      • Must have widely accepted license or certification in theindustry (ex. Journeyman card) required AND
  • Must have a minimum of five years of work experience in thefield required
  • Collegiate or university teaching experience specificallyteaching a course in the field preferred
  • Precision machining and CNC machining experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills withthe capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse collegecommunity
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction
