Job summary

Sinclair College offers one of the most comprehensive aviation technology programs in the nation, including degrees and certificates that prepare graduates for careers as pilots, mechanics, dispatchers, and unmanned systems operators. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

This position is open only to residents of Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or those able to work in one of these states; Sinclair restricts part-time employment to approved states due to

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in aviation maintenance.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification required; applicants must upload images of license in Licensure/Certification section.

Responsibilities

  • Teach curriculum developed by the department.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Prepare syllabi for all assigned sections per policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and timely grading.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester.

Position Summary

Sinclair College offers one of the most comprehensive aviationtechnology programs in the nation which includes Bachelor ofApplied Science degrees in AviationTechnology /Professional Pilot and Unmanned Aerial Systems . Sinclair’s bachelor andassociate degrees and technical certificate programs preparegraduates for careers as commercial fixed wing and helicopterpilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, aircraftdispatchers, aviation managers and unmanned aerial systemsoperators and technicians.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed and prepared by thedepartment
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections inaccordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance orrelated field required; OR must meet the specific requirementsassociated with Tested Experience:
    • Tested Experience Requirements:
      • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required AND
      • Minimum of an Airframe and Powerplant Certification requiredAND
        • To be considered, candidates must upload images of both thefront and back of their FAA license in the Licensure/Certificationsection of the application
      • Minimum of five years of experience working in the aviationmaintenance field required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience ispreferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills withthe capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse collegecommunity
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction
