Job summary

Inova Compounding Pharmacy in Chantilly, VA is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 2 for a full-time role, with days/evenings rotating shifts and a 20-hr per week structure as needed. Weekend work may be required.

You will support pharmacists by preparing and packaging medications, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring accurate dispensing according to prescriptions while adhering to USP guidelines.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license in Virginia.
• Two years of compounding Pharmacy Technician experience.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customized medications by measuring, mixing, and packaging according to prescriptions.
• Operate compounding equipment such as ointment mills, capsule machines, mixers, and maintain calibration.
• Follow aseptic techniques and USP 795/800 guidelines for safety and compliance in sterile and non-sterile settings.
• Maintain inventory of raw materials and ensure proper storage and timely reordering.
• Assist the Pharmacist with reviewing, processing, labeling, and dispensing medications.
• Record temperature logs and ensure equipment cleanliness.
• Process prescription information through computer systems, including patient/prescriber search, drug selection, insurance billing, and problem resolution.
• Prepare medications for clients by counting pills and labeling bottles.
