Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking a Compound Management Specialist to register and manage newly synthesized and external compounds, maintain metadata, and coordinate global shipments. You will implement SOPs, perform audits, and drive continuous improvement across inventory systems and processes.

The role requires 3+ years in compound management or related scientific operations, experience with BIOVIA/Dotmatics/CDD Vault, and strong data management skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in compound management within a scientific environment.
• Proficiency with compound registration platforms and ELN/inventory databases.
• Experience with CROs, vendors, or compound logistics networks.
• Knowledge of chemical structures, nomenclature, handling, and storage.
• Experience with BIOVIA, Dotmatics, CDD Vault, or ChemAxon.
• Proficiency with Excel and database/inventory-tracking software.
• Prefers some Python scripting experience.
• Familiarity with automated storage/retrieval systems and HTS support.
• Strong organizational, data quality, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Register newly synthesized and externally sourced compounds in electronic databases.
• Maintain complete compound metadata including structure, MW, purity, salt form, inventory location, and sample history.
• Audit inventory and reconcile physical vs electronic records; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments and transfers with collaborators.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training materials for compound management workflows.
• Investigate deviations in inventory, labeling, shipping, or records; drive preventive actions.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives for efficiency, data integrity, and UX.
• Serve as operational contact for CROs and vendors supporting synthesis, purification, analysis, storage, and logistics.
• Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and quality to address metadata, packaging, and timing issues.
• Contribute input to vendor onboarding, performance reviews, process changes, and business continuity.
• Partner with chemists to ensure timely registration and processing of compounds.
• Support study execution and compound logistics with Biology, DMPK, Informatics, and other teams.
• Train lab personnel and external partners on submission requirements, systems, and best practices.
• Act as SME for compound management systems, processes, and data standards.
