Job summary

Jewish Family Services in Milwaukee, WI seeks a compassionate nursing assistant to provide hands-on assisted living support, helping residents with daily living activities under supervision of a licensed nurse.

You will assist with bathing, meals, laundry, and documentation, respond to resident needs, maintain safety and confidentiality, and participate in trainings and care planning meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• At least one year experience as a nursing assistant and CBRF certified caregiver preferably experience with advanced age.
• Completion of all required CBRF trainings upon hire and completion of 15 CEUs per year.
• Proficient in English
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to attend and participate in departmental meetings, in-services and training as required
• Availability to work nights, rotating weekends and holidays
• Genuine interest in the needs of the advanced aging, mental health and other infirmities of age, understanding the problems they encounter and have patience and tact in servicing their needs.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to assisted living (Chapter DHS 89)
• Able to remember multiple tasks/assignments over long periods of time
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Knowledge of or ability to learn computer programs specific, including an Electronic Medication Administration Record system and a Nurse Call system;
• Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office applications;
• Strong and demonstrated organizational skills;
• Ability to occasionally work outside of regular work hours, as needed;
• Ability to maintain resident confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

• Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including showering, bathing and toileting needs.
• Assist with resident activities and meals.
• Assist with cleaning and laundry; maintain resident relationships.
• Complete documentation and forms per policies and procedures.
• Observe and report changes in resident condition promptly.
• Respond to medical emergencies per policy and call 911 if needed.
• Attend care planning meetings and trainings.
• Report maintenance needs to supervisor.
