Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and skin puncture in keeping with department SOP. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, or a phlebotomist certification, with BLS-HCP certification as standard.

You will handle specimens, ensure accurate data capture, and deliver STAT samples to the correct lab quickly. Join University Medical Center’s team and contribute to reliable patient care and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or 2 years of applicable experience or Phlebotomist Certification required.
• American Heart Association BLS-HCP certification required.
• Experience with specimen handling and QA procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture per SOP.
• Adhere to SOP for specimen collection using handheld devices.
• Monitor collection lists and document status of outstanding collections.
• Ensure STAT specimens are delivered to the lab promptly.
• Update data with correct collect/receipt times and statuses.
• Deliver specimens to the appropriate lab section immediately.
• Report complaints or problems to supervisor.
• Collect data for quality assurance programs.
• Maintain thorough and neat documentation.
• Monitor and clear the Not Received report continuously.
