Job summary

Tree of Life Personal Care Home LLC is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support residents with daily living activities and in-room care. Responsibilities include assistance with dressing, bathing, meals, laundry, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

The role requires dependability, teamwork, and good communication with residents, families, and the care team. Some care planning input and adherence to safety guidelines are expected daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a long-term healthcare setting preferred.
• Understanding of care of the elderly or chronically ill.
• Understanding of the chain of command and accountability in all functions of the unit.
• Must be dependable and willing to work as part of a team
• Must possess or have leadership skills in interdisciplinary staff development, and resident/family relationships.
• Understanding of roles and functions of care staff and total health care team.
• ServeSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in personal care (dressing/undressing, toileting, tub bath/shower, nails, hair care, shaving, hygiene) of residents as needed.
• Make or turn down beds, empty trash, replace toilet tissue, offer clean towels, and tidy rooms.
• Change bed linens in designated rooms.
• Wash residents' personal clothing and return to rooms neatly.
• Serve meals and assist in resetting tables.
• Maintain food safety guidelines during storage, prep and cleanup.
• Communicate changes in resident condition to LPN and Administrator; participate in care plans.
• Complete assignment sheets daily noting unusual events and care unable to be provided.
• Distribute appointment reminders to residents; communicate with families as directed.
• Be mindful of fire and safety procedures and respond to emergencies.
• Attend resident assistant meetings and participate in staff education/orientation and in-services.
• Assist residents to and from dining room in a safe and organized manner.
• Maintain a clean neat atmosphere throughout the home daily.
