Job summary

Portage Lakes Nursing & Rehab in Akron, OH is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Aide (PCA) to join our care team. You will provide hands-on daily care, assist residents with ADLs, mobility, and personal needs to support a safe, comfortable living environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1 year of healthcare experience (preferred), and active PCA or STNA certification (or CPR/BLS). Shifts rotate including weekends; we offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare or long-term care experience (Preferred).
• Active PCA or STNA certification, or CPR/BLS certification (Preferred).
• Ability to meet physical demands and work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with essential ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and meal setup.
• Welcome new residents and assist them with acclimating to the facility.
• Support resident mobility, positioning, and safe transfers between beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.
• Build positive relationships with residents and respond promptly to questions and call lights.
• Monitor resident well-being and report changes to the nursing team.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident living areas.
• Respond to urgent situations and report safety concerns to nursing leadership.
• Collaborate with nursing, administrative, and therapy staff to deliver high-quality care.
