Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1 year of healthcare experience (preferred), and active PCA or STNA certification (or CPR/BLS). Shifts rotate including weekends; we offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare or long-term care experience (Preferred).

• Ability to meet physical demands and work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with essential ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and meal setup.
• Welcome new residents and assist them with acclimating to the facility.
• Support resident mobility, positioning, and safe transfers between beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.
• Build positive relationships with residents and respond promptly to questions and call lights.
• Monitor resident well-being and report changes to the nursing team.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident living areas.
• Respond to urgent situations and report safety concerns to nursing leadership.
• Collaborate with nursing, administrative, and therapy staff to deliver high-quality care.

Job Summary

Portage Lakes Nursing & Rehab is seeking a compassionate, customer-focused Personal Care Aide (PCA) to join our nursing team in Akron, OH. In this role, you will provide hands‑on daily care, mobility assistance, and personalized support to our residents to ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified living environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with essential Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and meal setup.
• Welcome new residents and assist them with acclimating to the facility.
• Support resident mobility, positioning, and safe transfers between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with residents and respond promptly to questions, concerns, and call lights.
• Monitor resident well-being and report physical, emotional, or behavioral changes to the nursing team.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident living areas.
• Respond to urgent situations and immediately report critical incidents or safety concerns to nursing leadership.
• Collaborate closely with nursing, administrative, and therapy staff to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare, direct care, senior living, assisted living, or long‑term care (Preferred).
• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and strong time‑management capabilities.
• Certifications: Active PCA or STNA certification, or CPR/BLS certification (Preferred).
• Requirements: Ability to meet physical demands (lifting, standing, transferring residents) and flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
