Job summary

Southernmed in Dunn, NC is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support pediatric patients and providers. You will perform patient work-ups, vitals, specimen collection, prepare exams, and assist with procedures within scope of practice.

Responsibilities include patient education, EMR data entry, maintaining supplies, administering medications as directed, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have active RMA/CMA.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications; prior EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document in patient chart.
• Instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed by the provider.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examination.
• Assist the physician during patient exams.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform basic laboratory tests.
• Maintain exam rooms and stock supplies; ensure sterilization.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
• Perform blood collection per OSHA standards.
• Remove sutures and change dressings.
• Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., temperatures, medications, oxygen).
• Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Meet position requirements and perform essential functions.
• Complete all mandatory training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
