Job summary

Southernmed is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support pediatric patient care. You will assist providers with patient workups, lab collection, and procedures within scope, while adhering to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.

The position involves inputting information into the patient chart and coordinating with front office workflows. The role requires active CMA/RMA certification, CPR, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have active RMA/CMA.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications; EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Detail-oriented with good deadline management.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document in the chart.
• Instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed by the provider.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist during exams.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic lab tests.
• Keep exam rooms stocked and maintain instruments; prepare sterilization as required.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
• Perform blood collection following OSHA standards.
• Remove sutures and change dressings; maintain logs and required checks.
• Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Complete mandatory training and perform other duties as assigned.
