Job summary

SouthernMED is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support pediatric patients. The role includes patient work-ups, vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting physicians during exams. A strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork.

Requirements include active CMA/RMA and CPR certification, pediatric experience preferred, and proficiency with EMR systems. Excellent communication and independent work ability are essential.

Qualifications

• Active RMA/CMA certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications; EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines, in a detail-oriented manner.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, and document in chart.
• Instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed by the provider.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examination and assist physician during exams.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory tests.
• Keep exam rooms stocked and maintain instruments; assist with sterilization.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
• Perform blood collection following procedures and OSHA standards.
• Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., fridge temps, medications).
• Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
• Complete mandatory training and perform other duties as assigned.
