Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Transporter to aid in safe, timely transport of patients, equipment, and supplies across the hospital. You will support patient comfort and collaborate with clinical teams to keep daily operations running smoothly.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 months of customer service experience; BCLS certification and MOAB training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
• Six (6) months of customer service experience.
• BCLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
• MOAB training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely transportation for patients using wheelchairs and carts.
• Verify patient identity, communicate transport process, and support patient comfort and safety.
• Respond promptly to transport requests, relay important patient information to care teams, and assist during urgent situations.
• Follow safe patient handling practices and identify patient-specific needs to ensure quality care.
• Transport equipment and supplies between departments, maintain and sanitize transport equipment, and report maintenance concerns.
• Accurately document patient movement in electronic systems while adhering to HIPAA, infection prevention, OSHA, and hospital safety standards.
• Help maintain a clean, organized environment and demonstrate professionalism in every interaction.
