Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Transporter to ensure safe, timely transport of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital. You will work closely with clinical teams to support comfort and safety.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least six months of customer service experience; Basic Life Support certification is required. Prior patient transport experience preferred; HIPAA and safety standards must be followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months of customer service experience required.
• BCLS certification (Basic Life Support) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely transportation for patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs and carts.
• Verify patient identity, communicate clearly about the transport process, and support patient comfort and safety.
• Respond promptly to transport requests, relay important patient information to care teams, and assist during urgent situations, including emergency response activities.
• Follow safe patient handling practices and identify patient-specific needs to ensure quality care.
• Transport equipment and supplies between departments, maintain and sanitize transport equipment, and report maintenance concerns.
• Accurately document patient movement in electronic systems while adhering to HIPAA and hospital safety standards.
• Help maintain a clean, organized environment and demonstrate professionalism in every interaction.
