Qualifications

• Medical terminology preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months.
• Successful completion of transporter training and competencies.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must be 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Transports or escorts patients and families throughout the medical center.
• Assists with patient lifts/moves as requested by Mercy staff.
• Documents work activities according to policy and procedure.
• Reports information to clinical/testing site personnel to promote safety.
• Provides information and directions to visitors, patients and staff.
• Maintains a clean, well stocked and orderly environment.
• Complies with regulatory requirements and guidelines (HIPAA, OSHA, JCAHO).
• Uses software, pagers, and phones to respond to requests for service.
• Displays competency in location of department/floor/units.
