Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Transporter responsible for the safe, timely movement of patients, equipment, and essential items throughout the hospital. You will ensure clear communication with clinical teams and maintain a clean, safe environment while supporting patient comfort during transport.

You will adhere to hospital protocols and complete required documentation, contributing to smooth operations and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within three months from date of hire.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to understand written, verbal, and other sensory stimuli.
• Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints.
• Must be able to interpret scientific data in a logical and coherent manner.
• Must be able to independently solve problems and follow detailed written and verbal instruction.

Responsibilities

• Safely transports patients to and from hospital areas using appropriate equipment (wheelchair or cart) based on patient condition.
• Promptly transports patient to destination and notifies arrival to designated individual.
• Performs patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate.
• Completes hospital-wide orientation, annual competencies and department/unit-specific competencies.
• Adheres to vaccination requirements as part of safety protocols.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports malfunctions.
• Supports School of Radiology educational process and communicates with faculty on student progress.
• Performs other duties as assigned
