Job summary

Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital is seeking a compassionate Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support the Med Surg unit. Under RN guidance, you’ll help with basic patient care, monitor vital signs, and assist with feeding and personal needs.

This role emphasizes teamwork, clear communication with patients, families, and staff, and accurate documentation. EPIC EHR experience is a plus, and BLS is preferred. We offer competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and mobility.
• Serve as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Deliver high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
• Participate in hand-off reports during shift changes and patient transitions.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Assist with safe patient transfers and promote patient independence.
• Tailor care to individual patient interests and needs.
