Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The role includes sanitizing and cleaning rooms, monitoring patients' health and vital signs, and assisting with feeding and grooming.

The team emphasizes compassionate care and collaboration. Prior acute care experience is preferred, and EPIC EHR training is offered to new hires.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of nursing aide training program or equivalent certification.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Experience in acute care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care: comfort, vitals, personal care and mobility.
• Serve as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families and staff.
• Document care accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Participate in hand-offs and report pertinent information on arrival and departure.
• Carry out delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilize patients using safe transfer techniques.
• Encourage patient independence and individualized care.
