Job summary

Mercy Health in Clermont is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med/Surg unit to support nurses and patients in the evenings and nights. You will help with basic care, monitor vital signs, assist with feeding and grooming, and keep patient rooms clean and comfortable.

The role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered service, accurate documentation in EPIC EHR, and teamwork with the care staff.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred and must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Completion of nursing aide training program OR STNA/CNA OR nursing program with clinical course OR 1 year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, and personal hygiene.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes.
• Deliver high‑level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-offs and reports on patient needs.
• Mobilize patients using safe transfer techniques.
• Encourage independence and tailor care to patient interests.
