Job summary

Virtua Health in Voorhees Township, NJ is seeking a Patient Care Tech to assist with activities of daily living under RN/LPN supervision. You will support the healthcare team, communicate with patients and families, and uphold high ethical standards.

Responsibilities include aiding with hygiene, mobility, and basic care; performing vital signs, phlebotomy and EKGs if certified; and reinforcing patient education. Participation in improvement activities is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication skills.
• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• BLS certification.
• Phlebotomy training/education is required for the Emergency Department positions.
• Enhances skills through ongoing education and training. Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies.

Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and mobility.
• Performs vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care; documents appropriately.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified; communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN.
• Reinforces education of patient and family regarding care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
